Short
Long

  • Short coat
    Dogs with smooth, short fur that sits close to the body and doesn’t tangle.

    Examples: Beagle, Boxer, French Bulldog, Labrador, Dachshund, Vizsla.

    Long coat
    Dogs with longer, flowing or wavy hair that keeps growing and needs regular brushing and trimming.

    Examples: Poodle, Portuguese Water Dog, Maltese, Shih Tzu, Yorkshire Terrier, Cockapoo.

    Long double coat
    Dogs with two layers of fur: a dense undercoat plus a longer outer coat. These dogs shed and need extra brushing, but are not shaved.

    Examples: Golden Retriever, Corgi, Border Collie, Australian Shepherd, Samoyed, Bernese Mountain Dog.
