hand stripping

dogs up to 5kg

Hand stripping is the traditional grooming technique for wired-coat breeds — Miniature Schnauzers, West Highland Terriers, Norfolk Terriers, Wire-haired Dachshunds. Rather than cutting the coat, dead hair is removed by hand, which preserves the coat's natural rough texture, encourages healthy new growth, and keeps the skin in much better condition than clipping does over time.

It's a slower, more involved process than a standard groom, but for wired-coat breeds it produces results that clipping simply cannot match. Dogs new to hand stripping may need a few sessions to get used to the process — we always work at their pace.
